The shop started pretty simply. What began as a hobby became an obsession; what started as an obsession became a business. I’ve been crocheting for almost ten years now, but never have I had such a passion not only to try new techniques and patterns, but also to incorporate those skills into new and unique pieces that are all my own. Crocheting isn’t simply a good way to avoid store bought sweaters, it’s a medium full of possibilities. And, it keeps your hands warm in the winter.

The name Soggy Doggie came after a trip to the dog trail at the park that ended in torrential rainfall and getting lost in the woods while a park ranger on an ATV drove by waving at us (apparently, he believed our drenched wandering to be intention). Dogs are always cuter when they’re thoroughly soaked. It’s a fact.
A significant section of the shop is dedicated to what I call “Cozies for Causes”. What if your buying power went beyond simply purchasing a cute and practical reusable cozy for the paper coffee cup you get on the way to work each day? What if it could extend all over the globe? Now it can. The shop features six animal cozies, each paired with a different charity. Two dollars from the sale of each cozy goes to the charity it is paired with. You can choose based on your favorite design or your favorite cause, and causes include global charities such as the World Wildlife Fund, Water.org, and Asia’s Hope as well as national and local charities such as Peace for Paws (an all-volunteer pet organization), the Kids in Need Foundation (which provides school supplies for children nationwide), and My Very Own Blanket (which is another all-volunteer charity that provides thousands of personalized blankets to foster kids every year). Cozies for Causes is a great way not only to get cute cozies that will be the envy of all your caffeine-addicted friends but also to make a difference in the world at large.

At this point, Soggy Doggie is a one-girl operation. I do everything from designing to shipping in my little home office. What else can I say? I crochet like crazy and enjoy alliteration.
